Eighty years of racing tradition continues in 2012, with a 1000-mile course featuring classic areas and new destinations.

Last year’s Mille Miglia drew approximately seven million spectators to witness more than 300 classic cars competing in the journey. This year eligible cars include those models that participated in at least one of the original Mille Miglia races, between 1927-1957. Drivers will endure a historic route, travelling from the hosting area of Brescia to Rome and back and passing through many appealing destinations now including the cities of Ferrara and Ravenna as well as new stretches in Vicenza and Padua.

The Mille Miglia was born in the 20s when the Italian Grand Prix was moved to Monza. The jilted inhabitants of Brescia decided to establish their own popular racing tradition with an authentic journey through country roads, charming villages and heritage sites. Before the war, the Mille Miglia rose swiftly in the ranks of international motor sports and became a notable platform for now classic car brands including Ferrari, Porsche, BMW and Alfa Romero.

Many thrilling but also dangerous occasions led to the race’s hiatus, however, it was revived in 1977 as an ideal event for the serious enthusiast. The organisers promise to produce an annual event which will surpass the previous ones with the best selection of classic cars, entertainment and hospitality and passion for tradition.
