The world’s biggest classic motor racing festival, staged at the birthplace of the FIA Formula One World Championship.
This year's festival will host the first-ever BMW ‘Z-Fest’. Organised by the official BMW Car Club GB as one of the highlights of its 60th birthday celebrations in 2012, the UK’s inaugural Z-Fest will see hundreds and hundreds of BMW’s popular Z1, Z3, Z4 and Z8 sportscars on display as well as participating in a special parade lap on the full Silverstone Grand Prix circuit in front of tens of thousands of spectators.
Visitors will also see the usual exciting mix of live music, aerial displays, stunt bike demonstrations, helicopter rides and, of course, a plethora of different races including Masters F1, Pre ’66 Gentleman Driver’s GT Cars, HGPCA Rear Engine GP Cars Pre ‘66 and Pre ’63 GTs.
As well as marking 60 years of the BMW Car Club (GB), this summer’s special celebrations include 50th birthday parties for some of the UK’s most notable sportscars spawned back in the Swinging Sixties including AC Cobra and Lotus Elan and MGB.
Members of the Classic Car Club will be able to display their cars at the festival thanks to the Classic Car Club Display Package, while owners of cars manufactured before 1991 will be able to take advantage of specially designed driving routes (through some stunning British countryside, and bringing them past points of motoring history) as part of the 'Retro Run' event.
