Curating a Heritage Lifestyle
Lovely vintage 1920s crepe tea dress in a feminine paisley print.
Fashion during the 1920s rejected the stiff bustles and symmetry of dresses from the Belle Epoque. Designers embraced a looser silhouette and added details that emphasized movement and dancing, such as tassels.
This beautiful 1920s tea dress features a sailor collar and strips of fabric trailing from the skirt hem. During this period fashion was very influenced by artistic movements, and the colourful teardrop-shape Paisley motif of this dress taps into the popular interest in Art Nouveau-inspired busy prints.
This particular style of print was seen on the Spring/Summer 2012 designer collections, including Jil Sander (see photo).
A very wearable design in perfect condition.
