Wonderful vintage 1930s 'Le Transpyrénéen' original travel poster promoting travel by train to the Pyrénées region in France.

Lithograph in colours printed in circa 1930 by Lucien Serre et Cie in Paris for Chemin de Fer du Midi, France. An exquisitely coloured and executed pre-war French rail poster advertising the trans-Pyrénées route through the Midi and into Spain. Stunning and rare.

The artist Commarmond has created a striking graphic image in this travel poster, using blocks of gradient colour with straight or rounded edges to convey the differing textures of the landscape. The use of bright autumnal colours in the foreground creates a warming countryside scene that stands out against the distant blues of the mountainous background.
