Curating a Heritage Lifestyle
Vintage Seekers presents a rare opportunity to purchase a state-of-the-art airstream and have it customised to your specification. The 1950s Silver Streak Clipper is one of the lightest of vintage travel trailers, and what an example we have. Originating from Texas, USA and owned most of its life by a private collector, loved and cared for since the day it was built. The "alien eyed rocketeer" is certainly a crowd puller.
Recently imported from the US to a specialist UK workshop, this fine example of American camping and motoring history awaits bespoke tailoring to suit its new owner's style and taste. Whether you wish to retain and restore original features in keeping with the classic design, or have far more contemporary designs in mind, our specialist restoration team can accommodate.
The image gallery includes a couple of restoration examples, both on sale at Vintage Seekers; the first a 1963 Bambi Airstream with walnut-finished frames, all original fittings intact and serviced to today's safety standards; the second an Airstream Ambassador, a complete contemporary redesign to brief of luxury modern office space, with state of the art technology throughout.
Due to the labour-intensive nature of the restoration, only a couple of these luxurious, vintage travel trailers are completed each year.
This is an early example from the Silver Streak company, formed in the late 1940s. The caravan represents a functional yet luxurious mode of travel, as much so now as it was then. Its lightweight body built from original aircraft-grade metal makes it the ideal summer travel getaway, combining contemporary convenience with vintage nostalgia. The American tradition of camping was revolutionised with the introduction of caravans that enabled people to travel over long distances yet maintain home amenities. Trailers such as the Silver Streak and other classic airstreams also represent a great future investment for buyers as they gain in value every year.
Hand picked from a US collector and driven over 3500 miles to port, carefully fumigated, shrink wrapped and shipped, before undergoing quarantine and further shrink wrapping upon entry to the UK. Fully converted for UK road standards.
Call the Vintage Seekers team to reserve the vehicle, learn more about the proposition or to explore a specific brief you have in mind.
