Vintage Seekers says
Vintage Seekers adores these industrial feel Sjoerd Schamhart Chairs. Dutch architect Schamhart, having studied civil engineering in Rotterdam during the 1930s and trained at the Academy of Architecture post WW2, became hugely influential as chief architect of the Department of Public Works in the Hague. Commissioned in 1953 for the Grotius Lyceum, these chairs are a rare and important design showing the transition from Bauhaus to Dutch functionalism. Only 200 of these chairs were made and 120 of them survive. Conditioned by Schamhart's architectural background, the chairs have an unfinished, manufactured look, which we think would look great in a modern dining room.
