Beautiful vintage 1960s travel poster depicting Mont Blanc in Chamonix, France.

Lithograph in colours printed in circa 1960. Fully restored and professionally linen backed. Scarce.

The poster artist Samivel has pictured two daring figures atop a stunning and dramatic peak. The beautiful colour combination of browns, blues and greens creates an element of serenity in the foreground with the snowy mountains behind.

In A- very good condition - there may be some slight blemish, fold, small tear or other minor restoration to the poster but any marks are unobtrusive.

Evocative of the golden age of luxury travel, vintage travel posters make an appealing tangible investment. Designed to tempt people away from their working lives, today these posters speak of a bygone era when the world seemed a much larger place, and getting there involved setting sail on a sleek ocean liner or boarding an opulent railway carriage.

Railways and cruise liners were the first to commission graphic artists to create these posters (air travel gradually took around the middle of the century) at a time when lithographic stone printing and the Art Deco aesthetic were flourishing. The result is scores of beautifully glossy, crafted posters that combine bold text with stylised, geometric images.
