Very inviting vintage 1960s 'teddy bear' chair produced by Overman, Sweden. The armholes give great comfort, a wonderful additional chair. Excellent condition.
Scandinavian design was very influential during the 1960s, with a style characterized by simplicity, democratic design and natural shapes. In the late 1950s Swedish designer Carl Eric Klote developed a process of making furniture utilizing a light-weight materials for Overman.
The company produced pieces in factories in Sweden and Germany before ultimately establishing Overman USA in Knoxville, Tennessee. The very light, yet durable pieces have become classics of mid-20th Century design.
