Curating a Heritage Lifestyle
Striking vintage 1960s Hans Wegner easy chair, manufactured by Getama. Elegant dark wooden frame with re-covered mustard yellow seat. Stamped by the manufacturer Getama.
Trained as a cabinet maker and alumni of the School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen, Hans Wegner went on to revolutionise the concept of the chair and popularised Danish design around the world. Wegner worked as an assistant to Erik Møller and Arne Jacobsen until 1943, helping on their design for the Århus Town Hall, and adding some of his own furniture. Then, in 1943, he opened his own office.
Wegner was responsible for creating some iconic modernist designs, such as the Round, Bull and Wishbone chairs. Danish manufacturers Getama have been producing Wegner's designs for almost 60 years and continue to operate today. Their Wegner line is highly regarded for its quality and durability.
