A first edition, first printing published by Heinemann in 1965. A book in superb condition, with some heavy yet sporadic foxing to the top edge of the pages. The book is
signed on the dedication page by Le Carre, '...and for Isaac Barisaac/from/John Le Carre/. The recipient is Isaac Barisaac a Jewish merchant banker from Israel. Maintained in a very good wrapper with some lifting to the laminate and the usual fading to the spine.
'The Looking-Glass War' by John Le Carre is the tells of the thrilling operations of The Department, a mysterious British Intelligence Agency trying to re-live its glory days in World War II and the dramatic consequences of such. Learning of a Soviet Missile placement in Germany, the organisation seizes the chance to place an agent in the area, thus Polish WWII agent Fred Leiser is set upon the investigation which soon involves tense moments, dangerous errors and abandonment.
Leiser endures through the operation, even when it has ended for those not trapped in the game. The novel was adapted in 1969, directed by Frank Pierson and starring Christopher Jones as Leiser.
