Curating a Heritage Lifestyle
This is an original release US film poster for the surfing classic 'The Endless Summer'(1966).
The poster size is special; in other words, not many posters of this size were released. The rariety of this poster is based on the fact that only a limited print-run were produced, just enough to be sent to cinemas in America in 1966. Also, as this was a Bruce Brown surfing documentary it is unlikely to have massive country-wide release.
In the forty or so years since, more of the print-run will have been destroyed than collected, giving this poster rariety and its subsequent present-day value.
The poster features art by John Van Hamersveld, an American artist who specialized in graphic psychedelic design, including the album covers for The Beatles' 'Magical Mystery Tour' and the Rolling Stone's 'Exile on Main Street'.
Unlike most posters from this period, which were originally folded, this poster has never been folded. It is rare to find rolled posters from this era, and its condition is subsequently marvellous.
The Endless Summer is a Bruce Brown surfing documentary following Michael Hynson and Robert August on a surf trip about the world.
