This is an original British film poster for a 1968 cinematic re-release of the Oscar-winning 'Gone With The Wind' (1939). The iconic artwork features Clark Gable and Viven Leigh in the cinema classic.

Set during the American Civil War, 'Gone With The Wind' follows the turbulent love affair of Rhett Butler (Gable) and Scarlett O'Hara (Leigh). The film won 10 Academy Awards including Best Picture.

The poster size is called a 'British Quad', and is still today the standard size for British posters. As part of a film's international advertising campaign, Hollywood studios would send images such as photographic stills of scenes from the movie to their international distributors.

For example, they would send a photo taken during the film's production to their British distributor. The distributor would give these images to British artists, who would then design a poster to be sent to cinemas in that nation for promotional use.

This artwork was designed for the re-release of 'Gone with the Wind' in 1968.
