Stunning vintage 1970s "Rete" chaise longue, designed by Giovanni Offredi for Italian manufacturer Saporiti. This is a beautifully eye-catching piece in original purple suede leather upholstery with metal legs, and with the manufacturer's mark - Saporiti Italia.
In Context
The Milan born Giovanni Offredi began his career in design in the 1960s. Working in a great many fields within design, including lighting, shop interiors and kitchens, he had a clear focus on creating well-proportioned simple harmonious forms, free from superfluous ornamentation. His iconic work is highly praised and is proudly displayed in museums around the world, including the MoMA in New York and London's V&A Museum.
