Curating a Heritage Lifestyle
1972 Château Lafite is a full-bodied mature wine, deep ruby in colour.
The reputation of Château Lafite Rothschild precedes itself; a frontrunner of red wines for more than 200 years, it remains one of the world's most prestigious estates. Today, the vineyard itself covers three specific areas - the hillsides around the Château, the adjacent Carruades plateau to the west, and 4.5 hectares in neighbouring Saint Estèphe, while the grapes are a combination of Cabernet Sauvignon (70%), Merlot (25%), Cabernet Franc (3%) and Petit Verdot (2%).
'A pleasant surprise, given the poor vintage. It offers a very vegetal nose, and slightly stewed mouthfeel, and yet a classic elegance is retained. The rot that apparently blighted the year isn't apparent at all - a tribute to the amount of effort that must have gone into triage. A very interesting bottle.' -Cellartracker.com
