1974 John Le Carré 'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy' rare First UK Edition book.
A first edition, first printing of 'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy' published by Hodder and Stoughton in 1974. A near fine book (without inscriptions) in a near fine unclipped wrapper with the usual light fading to the spine. The basis for last year's hit film and a super copy indeed without the usual chipping found to the wrapper.
'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy' by John Le Carré is the story of George Smiley, a middle-aged intelligence expert who has been forced to retire. However, he is recalled to service to hunt down a Soviet double agent who has moved up to the highest levels of the British intelligence community, the 'Circus'.
In 1979, 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy' was made into a seven-part series for the BBC. The book was also adapted for film in 2011 and starred Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hardy, Mark strong and Ciarán Hinds.
