Vintage Seekers says
Jeanne Lanvin learnt dressmaking skills from Suzanne Talbot and acquired considerable technical expertise at a young age. She began to sell her own hats, first at market stalls and later in her own boutique at the Rue Boissy d'Anglais. In 1899, she founded Lanvin Couture House, perhaps the oldest in Paris and certainly one of the most prestigious. Jeanne Lanvin was one of the most influential designers of the 1920s and 1930s and is credited with designing the first flapper dress.
