1987 Rolex GMT-Master II 16760

Pre-owned vintage Rolex GMT II 16760 gentleman's wrist watch. 40mm Steel case (measured across its width, excluding crown), Black Baton dial, Steel (Oyster) bracelet, powered by an Automatic movement. The case has a 9466xxx serial making it approximately 25 years old. It is supplied with box and a comprehensive 12 month warranty.

The very first Rolex GMT-Master II, the ref. 16760, was launched in 1983 as an updated alternative to the slightly cheaper GMT-Master. It feature a thicker case, bezel and crown guards (giving it the nickname, 'The Fat Lady'), and also debuted the cal. 3085 movement with independent setting of the hour hand for a second time zone. Its release corresponded with the arrival of the new style Rolex dial too, gloss with white gold markers, which, combined with the thicker case, gave it a more luxurious appearance than previous GMT-Masters (the GMT-Master 16750 at the time also inherited the gloss dial). Further differentiating the GMT-Master II from the GMT-Master was the black and red bezel, which was now also ratcheted. The 16760 was, unusually, never offered in gold or gold and steel.
