Curating a Heritage Lifestyle
2002 Roriz Port is rich, floral and wonderfully refined.
Quinta de Roriz is one of the most spectacularly beautiful Quintas in the Douro, situated in the Upper Corgo on the South bank of the river Douro between Pinhão and Tua. With North facing vineyards, Roriz forms a natural amphitheatre, falling from the hilltops at 450 metres to the Douro River. The position of the Quinta along the river, the altitude and the consistent climate in this subregion of the Douro are ideal for the production of the very best wines. The classic schistous soil of the Upper Douro predominates, but both tin and gold have been mined at this quinta from the 17th right up to the mid 20th century; this unique soil composition brings a strong individual personality to the wines.
Opaque, impenetrable purple colour. The 2002 Quinta de Roriz has a marked floral nose of esteva (rockrose), combined with intense jammy aromas of blackberries and cherry. On the palate full-bodied, a massive structure and steely tannins which perfectly balance the rich black fruit flavours. Wonderfully refined, with a long and concentrated finish.
