Curating a Heritage Lifestyle
2007 Henri Boillot Meursault has an enviable subtlety.
Boillots have been farming in Burgundy since 1855. Henri launched his own negociant business in 1984 and after impressing his grandfather he rejoined the estate, changing the name to Domaine Henri Boillot. Today, Domaine Henri Boillot consists of 14 hectares evenly split between white and red. Boillot is fanatical about farming. He avoids insecticides and herbicides, preferring sustainable farming techniques to preserve the integrity of the soil. Vines are pruned heavily in the spring to ensure low yields. The fruit is harvested as late as possible to achieve maximum phenolic maturity.
"A very fresh, bright, pure and refined nose of hazelnut and lemon aromas that precede the punchy, precise and pure flavors that culminate in a bone dry and beautifully persistent finish. This is crystalline in its purity and this is a superb villages." 90 points, Allen Meadows, Burghound.com
"Consisting of roughly equal parts Clos du Cromin, Chevalieres, Narvaux, and Tillets, Boillot's 2007 Meursault smells of linden blossoms, lightly-toasted hazelnut, and Meyer lemon. Another bright exemplar of its vintage - with transparency to floral, nutty, and stony mineral nuances as well as with energy and lift - this finishes with subtlety to the point of discretion. It should be worth following for at least the next 3-4 years." 89 points, Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
