Sleek and fast, Jaguar cars were the brainchild of William Lyons, who began by designing motorcycle sidecars. He set up the Swallow Sidecar Company in 1922, but by 1927 his thoughts had drifted to cars and in 1931 he launched the SS1.
The Jaguar E-Type is a British automobile legend; manufactured by Jaguar between 1961 and 1975. Its combination of good looks, high performance and competitive pricing established the marque as an icon of 1960s motoring. In March 2008, the Jaguar E-Type ranked first in the Daily Telegraph's list of the "100 most beautiful cars" of all time and in 2004, Sports Car International magazine placed the E-Type at number one on their list of Top Sports Cars of the decade. On the cars public release in 1961 Enzo Ferrari called it "The most beautiful car ever made"
The Series III variant was introduced in 1971 incorporating the famous Jaguar 5.3 litre V12 engine together with uprated brakes and standard power steering. The convertible used the longer-wheelbase floor plan. It is easily identifiable by the large cross-slatted front grille, flared wheel arches and a badge on the rear that proclaims it to be a V12.
Our car was manufactured on 4th May 1972, finished in Dark Blue according to the heritage certificate. The car has been the subject of a virtual nut and bolt restoration costing over £70,000 which is verified by an independent Automobile Engineers report.
The car remains today in exceptional order and its appearance is especially attractive finished in gleaming Dark Blue with Magnolia leather interior complemented by Chrome Wire Wheels. Available for immediate inspection from our central London showroom; this E Type will turn heads wherever it goes.
