These jugs by Roth were a great contrast to the ceramics that were generally produced from Germany in that period.
West German pottery from the 1950s-1970s is particularly renowned for its modern, abstract designs and 'fat lava' glazes. West German ceramics were very much a part of the Modernism movement, bringing art into the home with bright, bold colours and geometric patterns.
