Vintage Seekers says
With a grand sense of adventure, Charles and Ray Eames turned their curiosity and boundless enthusiasm into creations that established them as a truly great husband-and-wife design team. Considered among America's most influential furniture designers shaping the look of the post-war era, their unique synergy led to a whole new look in furniture: lean and modern, playful and functional, sophisticated, and beautifully simple. From designing plywood splints for the US Navy, they learnt to mold plywood and put their first plywood chair into production in 1946. This chair took a central role in the New York Museum of Modern Art's 'New Furniture Designed by Charles Eames' exhibition and led to the long-term collaboration between Eames and the Herman Miller manufacturing company. Ultra chic and surprisingly comfortable, the iconic Eames Rocking Chair is made from a molded shell designed for every body, and placed on a 4-legged braced wire base with 2 wooden rockers.

"I have always* wanted an Eames rocking chair. I think it would cause my mother-in-law to despair - not necessarily a negative.
*Time is relative, as is the word "always". At least a couple of years."
