Description
Vintage 1950s French table lamp, an incredibly rare piece by modernist designer Jacques Blin. The base of the lamp has a rustic design, glazed in a rich golden tan colour. The lamp has been preserved in mint condition, with no chips or cracks to the ceramic and metal body. It has been fitted with a new shade, new cable and fitting, without affecting the original vintage design or quality.
Vintage Seekers says
Jacques Blin was originally an engineer, taking up pottery in the late 1940s and soon establishing a Parisian pottery business in the following decade.
His early work favoured modelling techniques but he continued to experiment and expand. Blin's signature style of singular colours, glazing and a natural, almost primitive aesthetic are evident in this piece.
Blin worked from the city of Vallauris, an historical centre for pottery and ceramics in the south of France. Vallauris has long been known as a hub for artists, with Picasso famously producing a range of pottery pieces whilst living in the town.
