Hobé rhinestone frame Josef purse with blue, aqua and pink unfoiled rhinestones on a cream iridescent hand beaded body, circa 1950, 9" by 6-1/2" (22.9 by 16.5 cm) total purse and frame size. The frame and closure clip are in mint condition, and the body has a tag inside which says, "Bags by Josef, hand beaded in U.S.A.". Josef of Paris made fabulous handbags. They were beaded in France and then imported. In 1946, when the advertisement shown came out, the price of the purse was $125.00, expensive for that time. There is slightly deeper cream color here and there on the body and the inside of the purse which does not detract from the overall look. You can see the vintage advertisement for this style purse in our pictures.

The name Hobé is synonymous with quality, especially in their earlier pieces. Originating in the 1920s, their wire-worked designs and fabulous stones create a unique old-world style.
