1962 Jaguar MkII 3.8 Litre Saloon in Opalescent Silver Blue with Dark Blue Hide and Dark Blue Carpets.

Sleek and fast, Jaguar cars were the brainchild of William Lyons, who began by designing motorcycle sidecars. He set up the Swallow Sidecar Company in 1922, but by 1927 his thoughts had drifted to cars and in 1931 he launched the SS1.

First introduced at the Earls Court Motor Show in 1959, the Jaguar MkII was a dramatically improved version of its predecessors in every respect - looks, handling and safety - and was Jaguar best selling car ever until the XJ6 came nine years later.

The 3.8 Litre MkII was able to cruise comfortably at 110mph, while most other cars of the time were struggling to reach 80mph. In fact, with the bigger engine and manual gearbox it was quicker than 80% of contemporary two-seater sports cars. The charismatic blend of good qualities of the MkII resonated with the car-buying public and cemented its status as a classic motor.
