Sleek and fast, Jaguar cars were the brainchild of William Lyons, who began by designing motorcycle sidecars. He set up the Swallow Sidecar Company in 1922, but by 1927 his thoughts had drifted to cars and in 1931 he launched the SS1.
While concentrating on manufacturing military sidecars during the Second World War, the company also learnt about aircraft design and production techniques. So when Jaguar introduced the XK120 at the 1948 Motor Show, with an engine output of an unprecedented 160 BHP, it quickly became one of the greatest sports cars of all time.
First designed in 1957, the XK150 was the third and final iteration of Jaguar's XK range. Though not as excitedly received as either the XK120 or XK140, time has shown it to be a fantastic and refined model. The car was updated with a one piece curved 'wrap-around' windshield. Disk brakes were fitted along with the availability of progressively more powerful engine options over the next few years, until production stopped in 1960-61.
An estimated 1,903 cars were produced of the Jaguar XK150 3.4l Drop Head Coupe between 1957 and 1961.
