1957 cheque signed by Marilyn Monroe, mounted and framed with a colour photograph of the beautiful actress.
Hollywood icon, Marilyn Monroe was an American actress, model and singer. She starred in many popular films such as Some Like it Hot, How to Marry a Millionaire and The Prince and the Showgirl.
Over the course of her career Monroe won several awards for her contribution to show business including three Golden Globes, two Photoplay awards and a Golden Plate. She was also awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on 9 February 1960.
Monroe studied at the Actors Studio as she felt that her career was limited to typecasting and she often ended up playing "dumb blonde" roles. Her studies paid off as her dramatic performance in the 1956 film Bus Stop earned her critical acclaim and a Golden Globe nomination.
Personal problems and illness surrounded Monroe in the later years of her life. A combination of her talent, good looks, premature death and the unusual circumstances under which it occurred have ensured that Monroe remains an important iconic figure to this day.
This fantastic piece is a bank cheque measuring 8.25" x 3" which is signed in blue ballpoint pen by the lady herself, as the president of Marilyn Monroe Productions. The cheque is payable to Sutton Wines & Liquors, Inc for a sum of $8.81, dated September 15, 1957.
The item is matted and framed with a beautiful glossy colour photo of Monroe and a small sequined lip pin. The overall size of the piece, including the frame, is 13.25" x 19".
This piece is in very good condition and is a wonderful item of Monroe memorabilia.
