Designed to meet the demands of professional race car drivers, the Cosmograph Daytona was first introduced in 1963, and named after the world famous home of sports car racing and testing, Daytona Beach in Florida. With its chronograph mechanism and bezel with tachymetric scale, it allowed drivers to perfectly measure elapsed circuit time and calculate average speed. Comprised of two series, the first becoming very short in supply in the early 90s leading to a second Zenith modified movement to meet demand. After Paul Newman was notoriously seen wearing a Rolex Cosmograph, they bloomed in popularity and became affectionately known as 'Paul Newman's.'
