Cashmere poloneck jumper worn by Andy Warhol in the 1980s.
Made of the finest cashmere, this exquisite black poloneck jumper is an iconic piece of art history. It was owned and worn by the legendary pop artist Andy Warhol during the 1980s, who is famed for his colourful artwork, featuring stars such as Marilyn Monroe, Jackie O and Mao Zedong. This jumper is well-documented in photographs of the artist and has become ingrained as a part of his appearance in popular culture.
It was was manufactured by Halston, whose minimal, but cool designs were also worn by Elizabeth Taylor, Liza Minelli, Anjelica Huston and other glamorous Hollywood stars. Roy Halston Frowick opened his own salon in 1968 and was a prominent figure himself in the New York Studio 54 club scene.
While Warhol continues to set record prices at art auctions - his artwork '200 one dollar bills' sold in November 2009 for $43.8m - his personal memorabilia is increasingly hard to find.
