Curating a Heritage Lifestyle
John Fitzgerald Kennedy (1917-1963) was the youngest man elected President of the United States of America. His Inaugural Presidential Address offered the memorable phrase: "Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country."
Kennedy was assassinated in 1963 and the combination of his popularity, and the conspiracy theories surrounding his death, has cemented his status as an American political icon.
This large 27" x 41" poster, which features some light creasing, is from Kennedy's 1960 presidential campaign. It shows a head and shoulders image of a smiling Kennedy and reads: "Kennedy for President - Leadership for the 60s".
Very few of these posters have survived the last 50 years, and considering recent Obama 'Change' posters, from his 2008 presidential campaign, have sold at auction for £4,560 (Bonhams, 2011), this Kennedy poster can be considered a bargain at just £4,000.
Professionally mounted and framed, this original poster is a wonderful piece of political history.
