Pair of vintage 1970s slipper chairs by Milo Baughman for Tayer Coggin, USA. Re-upholstered in old leather, perfect condition. Great pair.
"Furniture that is too obviously designed is very interesting, but too often belongs only in a museum" - Milo Baughman
A leading furniture designer in the latter half of the 20th century, Baughman was known for work that was understated and sleek, perfectly suited to divide open-plan living spaces that were the characteristic modern style in America.
He worked with many furniture manufacturers, but a prolific partnership with Thayer Coggin, beginning in the 1950s, is what propelled his pieces to huge, mainstream success. These collections saw some of his most iconic work over the decades and cemented him as a bastion of unpretentious, modern design.
