Founded in 1965, Pink Floyd were an English progressive rock band who first became popular playing London's underground music scene in the late 1960s. To date they have sold over 200 million albums worldwide, and were inducted into the Rock and Rock Hall of Fame in 1996. Guitarist and vocalist David Gilmour joined the band as its fifth member in 1967, several months prior to songwriter Syd Barrett's departure. With this line-up Pink Floyd achieved worldwide critical and commercial success with 'The dark Side of the Moon', 'Wish You Were Here', 'Animals' and 'The Wall'.
The Rolling Stones, first popular in the UK and Europe, quickly became a success in America during the British invasion of the mid 1960s. Having released 22 studio albums in the UK, 11 live albums and several compilations, their worldwide sales are estimated at more than 200 million albums. Their 1972 album 'Exile on Main Street' was named seventh greatest album of all time by Rolling Stone magazine.
Led Zeppelin were an English rock band, active in the late 1960s and throughout the 1970s. With their 1971 album 'Led Zeppelin IV' named one of the best-selling albums worldwide at 32 million units, they are widely considered to be one of the most successful, innovative and influential groups in the history of music.
