Curating a Heritage Lifestyle
Be the belle of the ball in this beautiful vintage 1950s design black and white prom dress.
After the austere fashions of the 1940s, the new shapes which came into play in the 1950s were a breath of fresh air; full skirts, nipped-in waists and more opulent fabrics soon became the popular choice for socializing in the evening. In keeping with this mind-set, this dress is both chic and playful, with a polka dot print on the white panel down the middle of the rear of the garment and a giant bow pulling in the waist, while a simple elegance and sophistication is retained with the all black front.
There is slight pleating either side of the dress beginning from
the hips and lightly falling to the below-knee length full skirt.
It has a very flattering wide neckline and a deep V back. A vintage
petticoat could also be worn underneath to really achieve that
1950s playful prom look, which aimed to be as far removed from the
conservative shapes of post-war fashion as
possible.
