A classic Rolls is always a covetable object, but coupled with the provenance of having been owned by two of the 20th century’s greatest figures from the movie and art industries, this pair are sure to make for an exciting, even record-breaking, sale.
Marlene Dietrich's former 1929 Rolls-Royce Phantom I Transformable Convertible Sedan was a gift from the director Josef von Sternberg of Paramount Studios, who collaborated with Dietrich in the movie Morocco, in which this very car is featured.
Estimated to sell for $300,000-400,000, this Phantom is one of the most attention-grabbing lots in Bonham’s fledgling automotive sale during the famous Scottsdale Car Week.
Meanwhile, a 1974 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow that once belonged to iconic pop artist Andy Warhol is estimated to sell for $40,000-60,000. Warhol purchased the Silver Shadow new and kept it for 13 years, until his death in 1987, and has had only two subsequent owners since.
A 1929 Duesenberg Model J Convertible Sedan (est. $650,000-750,000) and a 1932 Packard Model 904 Custom Convertible ($600,000-700,000) are among the other classic cars featuring in the auction.
